Graduation Cap Cups from Bakerella

A very sweet friend of ours is graduating from high school today.  We've been invited to join a celebratory dinner with her family and other friends after the commencement. My girls and I made her some graduation cap cups from Bakerella's sight to bring to the dinner. We had tons of fun making them and honestly, the girls did almost everything themselves. I arranged some of them in a vase for decoration and the extras are in some plain floral foam. That surplus can be used to replace the ones in the "bouquet" as people take them.

I can't wait for her to see them!

will be 13 in 24 days.

Has anyone figured out a way to stop it?

Can I just say...

that it's been a rough couple of days? Friday was the fourth anniversary of my mom's passing, so the weekend didn't necessarily seem too promising anyway. But then my car was broken into Saturday night...window broken, purse stolen. It's a violation...and I was royally ticked off. But now I'm just sad. I mean, really...what kind of person so thoughtlessly steals such a personal belonging? As I stated on Facebook, we have much to be grateful for regardless of the loss. No one was hurt and except for the window, the car is fine.

Today's had it's highs and lows. Fortunately, something vital I thought was taken was found, but dealing with governmental agencies never puts me in a good mood. I wasn't able to go to work because it was storming and my window is obviously missing, so I get to spend more time with my family.

At one of the lows this morning, Morgan brought me a gift she made for me in art class...

and so I'm reminded that although the thieves were able to rob me of some material possessions...they can't take away the love of my children, the beauty of a sunset, the feel of a kitten's fur, the joy of having a place where you belong, the gift of His grace and mercy...

Tomorrow's a new day, as the saying goes...and I intend to make the most of what really matters.

It's that time of year again. Our thoughts have turned to summer vacation and all the things we're dreaming of doing...

Our list is on that sidebar over there on the right...Take a moment a check it out. I'll be adding and taking away from it as the summer progresses. What else can you think of that our family might love to do? What is your family doing this summer? Feel free to post your own summer fun list using the header I created. And if you do...won't you please link back here and leave me a comment as well so I can peruse your list too!

Remember these?

I know you do!

My nine year old thought I needed some cheering up today and that a rousing game of Mad Libs would do the trick. Turns out....she was right! We had a hysterical time! Tristan couldn't control the belly laughs. I wish I had recorded his chuckles for everyone to hear. They're a definite cure for what ails ya!

Enjoy some of these we did today...and be sure to read them out loud to anyone who might be in hearing distance. Laughter is always better when you share it!

I hope these gave you at least a little giggle and helped to start your weekend off in a good way!

I'm such a glutton for punishment

But really...

These faces...

I was powerless to resist them.

Besides, we don't live in the country for nothing. They'll be expert mouse chasers in no time.

Little Dogs

This is Rosie...

She's the chief loafer around here. Miss Barks-a-lot. Miss Never-sweat. Scared of her own shadow (and yours too), but thinks she's the size of a Great Dane. But there's a lot to be afraid of when you're only 9 inches tall.
Technically, this is Morgan's dog. But much to the chagrin of my husband, Rosie has made him her alpha dog, always needing his attention and approval. He despises little dogs, so I think he has gotten exactly what he deserves.

And last, but not least, Tawny...

She's Tristan's dog. Half German Shepherd, half Golden Retriever, and all mess. We adopted her when she was very young. Too young actually, but we didn't realize it at the time. She only weighed 1 1/2 lbs. She still needed a mama, and fortunately, she had plenty of those here. Now she's the baby of the family.
We can't figure out if we're her humans or fellow dogs. Either way, we're part of her family, and she, ours.
