Trixie!
Isn't she gorgeous? We're so excited to have her here!
Ron was bidding a job up in Pilot Point last week at little piece of property where the couple had several horses. During the course of some conversation, Ron mentioned that he had a little girl who has always wanted a horse. The couple told Ron that because the horse market is so bad right now, they could not sell any of their horses and were needing to let go of a few. They offered Trixie and a little stud colt to Ron for free. (To choose, not both. Ron and Morgan decided on Trixie.) Of course, a free animal is never really free, but because they did this, we're able to have a horse now versus later.
It'll sure be a lot of fun to watch Morgan and Trixie grow up together!

What did you guess?
Yesterday I left you with a question. I told you we were getting a new animal for our little farm and was wondering what you thought it would be. So tell me, how many of you guessed llama? Come on, you can tell me. Ok, how many of you guessed dairy cow? Nope, sorry. Although I would like to think that I could handle a dairy cow, I think I know myself well enough to realize how foolish that endeavor would be right now. Did anybody think donkey? Hmmm? Well, you're getting warmer....
It's a HORSE! Are you surprised? She is a year-old filly. Very sweet, but shy. Looks like Ron has his work cut out for him. Oh, did I not tell you? While I would say we are a family of horse-lovers, I would not say that any of us have much experience with them. Except for Ron. He had a mare named Bright Eyes when he was a teenager. So he is the designated horse whisperer for this family. Hopefully, it won't take her too long to settle in.
Pics to come later today!

Another new addition
Those of you that came over from Facebook already know about our family addition from a couple of weeks ago and the sad ending to that. (I'll post about that over here as well for those of you that don't.)
However, this is about a completely new species that's going to be added to our family tomorrow. I can't say right now what it is for secrecy sake, but you can bet I'll be posting about it tomorrow!
Any guesses as to what it might be?

Here we are...
Well, here I am with a blog. I'm not really sure why. But I'm always finding articles, videos, and pictures that I want to share over on Facebook. I like to talk about what our family's eating for dinner, what new animals we've found, bought, or been given. I like to tell funny things that the kids have said or done, and I'm finding that FB, while it serves some purpose, does not lend itself to those kinds of postings well at all. (Maybe I just talk too much, I don't know.)
So I'll be posting some funny, interesting, tragic, lame, and just unbelievable things that have already happened mixed in with some things that are happening right now for your entertainment (i.e. for your mindless internet time wasting activity).
Are we ready? I didn't think so, but we'll go ahead and jump in anyway!
