This is my 200th post! Wow!

hhm

Thanks to Sandra for hosting!

The weather in my neck of the woods:
Chilly, but sunny.

One of my simple pleasures:
A stress-free Thanksgiving.

On my bedside table:
Two books that I'll be reviewing here soon.

On my TV:
No TV here.

On the menu for tonight:
Not sure yet. Need something quick and yummy.

On my To Do List:
Oh, man, I have the the Mt. Everest of laundry and of course, I have to go to work.

New Recipe I tried last week:
I roasted a turkey for the very first time. We've always fried them in previous years.

In the craft basket:
Nothing, but it's time to start getting creative again.

Looking forward to:
Winter break! Three more weeks of school and work, then two glorious weeks off!

Homemaking Tip for this week:
I am tapped out on tips.

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
I can't seriously pick just one!

Favorite photo from last week:  My turkey!

Lesson learned the past few days:
That good friends can come from surprising places.

On my Prayer List:
Friends
Family
Fellow bloggers
Our military, always, but especially during the upcoming holidays

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.

On my To Do List:
Laundry, laundry, laundry, and cooking, cooking, cooking.

New Recipe I tried last week:
Nothing new last week.

Nothing, but it's time to start getting creative again.

Looking forward to:
Thanksgiving!

Homemaking Tip for this week:
This is my second year to cook most of our Thanksgiving dishes a few days before the big day. Our traditional meal will be on Fri, but we'll be traveling Thursday, so Wednesday is going to be a big cooking day here. This means I'll have more time to enjoy family on Friday!

Roland Osborne visits TXBBA

Roland Osborne is a very cool guy. Besides being an all-around superstar in the martial arts world, he's great with kids, and really down to earth. I took this pic of him with Morgan, printed it on my little photo printer, and he autographed it for her. And don't you know that made her feel pretty special.

Here Morgan is showing off some of the moves she learned during the bokken (wooden sword) seminar.

The bokken group was small which meant lots of time for everyone to show their stuff.

Roland also gave a kicknastics seminar. Kicknastics is gymnastics meets martial arts. The kids learned some awesome new kicks and a new form (combination of moves that's memorized and performed) that will be great for the school's demo team to learn.

We had a great day with Roland and all the folks who came out for the seminar! See you next year!

Friday Night Lights

Last Friday night I attended the first high school football game since I was in high school. This was not my high school, though. This was the Brewer Bears. My nephew plays varsity. He's the third nephew to do so as well as their dad.

I always loved watching the marching band and drill team.

Although I'm sad to say the Bears lost, I had a great time. Morgan was with me. This was the first time she'd ever been to any kind of football game. She loved it.

The Bears did have some great plays. Watch them take down the Pioneers' quarterback. (We're the visiting team, so we're in white.)

Too bad we waited until the last game of the season to go. We can't wait until next year.

It's late and I'm tired

but I really wanted to give my sweet readers an update on Morgan and Maddy. You've been so nice with your comments here and on Facebook. Not to mention the emails I have received.

As most of you know, Morgan had H1N1 about 3 weeks ago. She ran a very high fever and had all the other classic flu symptoms. Tristan had it at this time too. I eventually took him to the doctor because his cough was not improving and I was worried that he might develop pneumonia. Fortunately, we caught that in time and with some Zithromax he was (and is) good as new.

I thought we'd kicked this piggy's tail-end, but this weekend it seemed to be making an ugly and unwanted comeback. Morgan began running fever again. I could tell she didn't feel as miserable as the first go round, but 103+ is just out of my comfort zone on temperature. I knew that today she had to go to the doctor.

The doctor was sure she had the flu. She wrote the prescription for Tamiflu before the rapid test was even done. But surprise, the flu test was negative. Meanwhile, Maddy is exhibiting similar symptoms. She didn't get a flu test at all. (Not sure why, now that I think about it.) So, what's a momma and doctor to do?

Well, it might be over kill, but Morgan is now on Tamiflu and Zithromax. Maddy's just on the Zithromax. (Maddy is not in a high risk group and wouldn't get Tamiflu even if she'd had a positive test).

Is this a race to see who gets better first? With these two meds on our side, I expect quick results...with two winners.

Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather in my neck of the woods:
Not raining, so that's good enough for me!

One of my simple pleasures:
Opening the windows and letting in the breeze.

On my bedside table:
iPod

On my TV:
No TV here.

On the menu for tonight:
Hmm...probably homemade chicken soup.

On my To Do List:
Laundry, laundry, laundry.

New Recipe I tried last week:
I made Pioneer Woman's Chicken Pot Pie with her pie crust recipe and it was so good. Comfort food at it's best.

In the craft basket:
Nothing, nothing at all.

Looking forward to:
Getting my Morgan to the Dr. and figuring out what's going on. She's running a fever again, anywhere from 100 to 103.

Homemaking Tip for this week:
I got nothing.

Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
Haven't been reading my blogs. :>(

Favorite photo from last week:
I don't really have one this week. But I'll enjoy looking at everone else's.

Lesson learned the past few days:
Hmm...I don't know if this is a lesson but, I love my husband and know the Lord made him for me. I'm not sure there's another man on this planet that would put up with me! LOL

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
Psalm 23:2,4-6 He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. 4 Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. 5 You prepare a feast fro me in the presence of my enemies. You welcome me as a guest, anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
